Common questions
A feed will not add.
Make sure you are using the site’s RSS or Atom feed address, which often ends in /feed or .xml, rather than an article link. For Reddit, Mastodon, Bluesky and YouTube, choose that source type in Add Petal.
How do I move my subscriptions to PetalFeed?
Export an OPML file from your old reader and import it, or connect your Feedbin, Inoreader or FreshRSS account from Roots to bring everything in at once.
My sync account is not updating.
Open Roots and check the account is still signed in, then refresh. Background refresh runs on the schedule you pick in Settings, from every few minutes to manual only.
Listen mode is using a voice I do not like.
Pick a different voice in PetalFeed settings. To add enhanced or premium voices, go to Settings, Accessibility, Spoken Content, Voices on your device.
AI summaries are not available.
Summaries use Apple’s on-device intelligence, so they need a device that supports it, with the feature turned on.
