Common questions

The number pad still types digits.

Press Control-Command-J to check jKey is on. Then open System Settings, Privacy & Security, Accessibility, and make sure jKey is turned on there. If it is on but jKey still asks for permission, remove it from the list with the minus button and add it again.

jKey says it is paused.

macOS hides typing from other apps in password fields and in Terminal with Secure Keyboard Entry on, so jKey pauses there and the number pad types digits. If it says it is paused anywhere else, another app, often a password manager, has left secure typing on; quitting that app fixes it.

VoiceOver’s NumPad Commander does not respond.

While jKey is on, it has the number pad. Turn jKey off with Control-Command-J whenever you want to use NumPad Commander.

I lost the keypad panel.

Choose Settings in the jKey menu bar menu, then Move Panel to Bottom of Screen.

Can jKey start when I log in?

Yes. Choose Settings in the jKey menu bar menu and turn on Open jKey at login. If macOS asks, allow it in System Settings, General, Login Items.

Where is the full guide?

Choose jKey Help in the jKey menu bar menu. It covers every mode and key.
